Southeastern Arson Seminar

Arson Seminar Picture" The first annual Southeastern Arson Seminar was held in 1965 by then Safety Fire Commissioner Jimmy Bentley and State Fire Marshal Bob Gore, Jr. The first six seminars were held at the Alpine Motel in Macon, Georgia.

In 1971, the seminar was moved to the Georgia Center for Continuing Education at the University of Georgia; it was held at that location until the 30th seminar in 1994. In 1995, the seminar moved to the Embassy Suites Hotel in Brunswick, where it stayed through 2001. In 2002, the seminar was held at the DeSoto Hilton Hotel in Savannah. In 2003, the seminar moved to the Marriott Riverfront in Savannah and was held at that location through 2008.

The annual Southeastern Arson Seminar provides an excellent means for the arson investigator to stay abreast of the latest techniques and theories in the investigation of the crime of arson. The seminar has provided a variety of topics and speakers over the years, including field demonstrations conducted by the U. S. Army, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, as well as private and public sector experts.Arson Seminar Picture"
