In accordance with the Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011, which amends Chapter 36 of Title 50, the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner will be changing its procedures regarding the verification of lawful presence of persons applying for all licenses, permits, registrations and certificates.
Beginning January 1, 2012, this Office will require EVERY individual, corporation, partnership, or other business entity submitting an application to this Office, to submit the following document along with the application: GID-276-EN
All applicants will be required to submit these documents before the application can be processed. If the applicant is a corporation, partnership, or other business entity, only one employee or officer of the entity, who has authority, must complete and submit these documents.
The Office of the Attorney General of Georgia has issued a list of all secure and verifiable documents under §50-36-2. This Office will only accept documents included in the GID-276-EN in order to satisfy requirement above. These documents may be submitted electronically.
In addition, if the individual applicant, or the employee or officer of the entity required to submit the documents, is not a United States citizen, this Office is required by O.C.G.A. §50-36-1 to verify their immigration status through the Federal Systematic Alien Verification of Entitlement (SAVE) program.
