Listed below are the continuing education requirements for resident licensees.
It provides the continuing education requirements by license type.
It also provides information on carry over credits, waivers, reductions and restrictions on continuing education.

| ADDITIONAL CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION/CREDIT |
- Credit will not be given for the same Continuing Education Course for a period of (2) years, unless the topic of course is current issues, ethics or legislative updates.
- Credit for Continuing Education earned in one calendar year in excess of your requirement may be carried forward to the next calendar year but it cannot be more than 50% of your requirement. (You are required to have 15 hours but you obtain 30 hours for the calendar year, only 50% or 7 hours can be carried over.)
- Upon filing of the required form on or before the date required for filing continuing education credits with the Commissioner, any person may receive a reduction or exemption in continuing education hours required to the extent of the time spent on insurance related activities during the previous years. Such activity shall include, but not limited to, the following related or occupational duties:
- Teaching courses in insurance related topics
- Insurance related legislative activities
- Journalism activities involving insurance related topics
- Projects involving research of insurance laws and regulations
- Individuals holding the following professional designations are required to complete 6 hours of continuing education with 3 of those being in ethics: CPCU, CLU, FLMI, CIC, Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), ChFC, Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI), Certified Financial Planer (CFP), or a major BBA in Risk Management and Insurance from an accredited college. If you hold these designations please submit proof to our office.
- Agents holding a non-active license as provided in O.C.G.A 33-23-4(f) and 33-23-18(e) are exempt from Continuing Education requirements provided:
- the holder of such license files for renewal annually on or before the date required.
- Such exemption shall only be valid during the period the license is nonactive.
